Someone that has never used these lights might wonder why simply planting outdoors will not work. The answer is simple. Planting outdoors allows for too many variables that may kill plants.
Having the ability to grow indoors means that even in the winter months, growth can continue. Though some individuals do choose to move their plants outdoors at some point, many simply allow them to stay indoors year round. For example, there is no rule that says that herbs must be planted outdoors.
